The Devil's Spine Band

“The Devil’s Spine Band” is a live performance work loosely based on, and inspired by, Oscar Wilde’s lecture tour to the mining town of Leadville Colorado in1882, performed by a multi-disciplinary group of internationally known artists.

Described, by some, as a cross between David Lynch and Captain Beefheart, these ‘saloon’ style performances have featured two Japanese butoh dancers, a dance artist, theatre performer, a guitarist, a percussionist, a keyboard player, a film-maker, visual and performance artists. Each performance is a unique experience for both performers and audience, progressing through a consciously ‘high risk’ improvisational structure with a composed but flexible soundtrack of instrumentals and songs, creating a surreal desert world, combining the gritty atmosphere of the Wild West with spontaneous performance and Ireland’s finest blues-rock musicians.
